Help a colleague carry on his brother's dream

posted Mar 16, 2012, 6:21 PM by Jen Weigel

Dr. Frank Cassella, a colleague practicing in Vienna, VA, and his wife created the Joe Cassella Foundation in remembrance of Dr. Cassella's brother who sought to help others in need.

The 3rd Annual Joe Cassella 5K will be on Sunday, May 20th in Great Falls, VA. This year, all race proceeds will benefit Gianna Hess, a one-year old girl battling a rare form of liver cancer. For more information about the foundation, the race or Gianna, visit www.JoeCassellaFoundation.org.

A few minutes or hours of your time can go a long way!

Here are a few ways YOU can help us grow the Joe Cassella 5K:

Seek corporate sponsors/donors

o Ask your employer, friend’s business or the golf club where you belong if they’d be interested in becoming a sponsor of the race or donating a silent auction item valued over $100.

o Our sponsorship packet is on our website, under “get involved” . It is also attached to this email, and it has all the information needed to become a sponsor.

Promote the race

o Put flyers at stores, coffee shops, gyms, doctor’s offices, under car windshield wipers at busy shopping centers, running stores, churches, etc.

o Pass out flyers at a local races on a weekend.

o Email friends, share our posts on Facebook, etc.

o Tell your neighbors.

o Send flyers to your kids’ schools or daycare.

Recruit volunteers

o Think friends, sports teams, high schools, church, etc.

Create a team and help us fundraise

o Ask your closest friends and family to join your team, donate and compete to win a prize. Go to www.active.com/donate/JCF5K2012 to get started.

Volunteer on race weekend or race day - Help with any of the following: packet pick up, registration, course, silent auction, kids’ activities, food, volunteers, etc.
