Solomon Eye Physicians and Surgeons to Expand Practice with McLean Location

Dear Affiliate Doctor;

 

This month, Jonathan Solomon, M.D. is expanding his services in Northern Virginia to include cataract surgery.  TLC Tysons Corner will function as a satellite office for his private practice, Solomon Eye Physicians and Surgeons, based in Bowie, MD.  As part of this offering, TLC Tysons Corner will provide certain management services for Dr. Solomon.  Joan Reich will join Solomon Eye Physicians and Surgeons on a part time basis and will be your office’s primary contact for educating you on Dr. Solomon’s cataract offering.

 

Dr. Solomon is proud to offer the latest in cataract surgery technologies including Laser assisted refractive cataract surgery with LENSAR technology and  the ORA Custom Cataract™ with VerifEye, which allows for real time feedback in the operating room. The world’s first intraoperative Wavefront Aberrometer to ensure precise refractive outcomes for all of the FDA approved presbyopia-correcting intra-ocular lenses (IOL): Restor ®, Tecnis® Multifocal & Crystalens®.  Additionally, to correct astigmatism the Alcon Toric, , Tecnis Toric, and Trulign  accommodative lenses. Surgical cases will be performed atNorthern Virginia Surgery Center, Fairfax Surgery Center as well as Dimensions SurgeryCenter in Bowie, MD.

Cataract Surgery and ICL FAQ


Where and how will surgical cases be performed?

Dr. Solomon has privileges at Fairfax Surgical Center, Fairfax, VA; Northern Virginia Surgery Center, Fairfax, VA; and Dimensions Surgery Center, Bowie, MD.

Cataract surgery procedures will be done one eye at a time, separated out by a few weeks.  ICL procedures will be done bilaterally at the same time.

 

What insurances are accepted by Dr. Solomon and Solomon Eye Physicians and Surgeons?

Basic cataract surgery will be covered by medical insurances, in most cases.  Patients will pay a separate fee for premium IOLs

Solomon Eye Physicians and Surgeons accepts the following insurance plans:  Medicare, Aetna, Cigna, BCBS, Coventry Health Care, Alliance One net, Kaiser, United Health Care, Optimum Choice, Anthem, GEHA, and MDIPA.

Elective ICL procedures, like LASIK and PRK, will not be covered by insurances.

 

What IOLs will be offered?

For cataract surgery, patients will be able to choose from monofocal IOLs, toric IOLs, and multifocal IOLs.  After reviewing each case, Dr. Solomon will make a recommendation on which lens is best suited for your patient’s visual and lifestyle needs. 

For ICL surgery, Dr. Solomon will be using the Visian ICL.

 

Does Dr. Solomon co-manage patients?  If so, how will we be participating in this process?

Yes, Dr. Solomon does co-manage patients.  Specific information on what is needed for pre-ops and post-ops will be coming out shortly.

 

What kind of technology will be used during cases and where is that technology located?

Dr. Solomon will be able to use premium IOLs at any surgical location.

The ORA (intraoperative wavefront abberrometry) and  LENSAR (laser-assisted cataract surgery) are currently offered in his Bowie, MD, surgical center.  Dr. Solomon is actively working to bring these new technologies to the NOVA area.

 

Where will patients be seen for consultation?

Dr. Solomon will be evaluating cataract surgery cases one Thursday  afternoon a month initiallyHe is currently scheduled to be in Tysons Corner on August 22, September 19 and October 17.  As our program grows, we will be able to expand his schedule to  better accommodate your patients. 

ICL consultations will be done just as our LASIK/PRK consultations, Monday through Friday during our normal business hours.

When can I expect informational materials?

Informational materials are in the process of being printed as we speak.  As soon as they are available, we will distribute them promptly to your office.

 

What kind of post-op form should I be using?  Where do I fax it to?

This information will be distributed promptly.  Be on the look out for it.
