Leni
Ophthalmic and Surgical Technician

Leni is really good at a lot of different things.  She is fully cross trained in the office like all of our staff members.  Additionally, she makes good cupcakes and knows how to consistently hang wall pictures in proper alignment.  Leni might seem quiet at first, but she is really good at making jokes with impeccable timing.

Maria
Surgical and Ophthalmic Technician

Maria was in the optical field prior to joining Dr. Holzman's team first at Millennium and then continuing with TLC Tysons Corner.  When describing Maria's contributions to the TLC Tysons Corner team, you'll get a shorter answer if you ask what she does not do around here!  From organizing the OR, to ordering everything that the OR and clinic need to run efficiently, to keeping track of upgrades in all of our systems, to working closely with all of our Open Access Surgeons, she is instrumental to the team.

Kristina
Surgical Technician

Kristina's also been with Dr. Holzman since before they joined TLC.  She's ready to jump in wherever she's needed in the office.  When our two seasoned surgical techs took family leave at the same time, Kristina stepped up to the plate to fill that role.  In her free time, she enjoys updating Dr. Holzman's website and Facebook page.

JoAnne

Ophthalmic Technician

A native of Alabama, Joanne attended the University of Alabama.  After moving to Northern Virginia, she worked with the Department of the Navy’s Bureau of Medicine and Surgery before concentrating on raising her family.  After returning to the workforce, Joanne joined a large private optometry practice in Northern Virginia as an optometric technician for almost twenty years.  As part of that practice, she served as the Laser Vision Coordinator, introducing patients to LASIK and PRK as laser vision correction was first becoming approved in the United States.  Joanne was the primary liaison between the private practice and TLC, and she had PRK over 15 years ago.  Given her long history with TLC, Joanne was excited about the opportunity to join Dr. Holzman and his TLC team in January 2011.  Here, she can be found in our Tysons Corner and Gainesville locations serving as an ophthalmic technician and patient counselor.

In Memoriam

Richard Habib
Southeast and Mid-Atlantic Regional Director

From Dr. Holzman's blog dedication to his friend, Richard:

On Saturday October 3, 2015, we sadly lost a great friend and colleague in Richard Habib.   His sudden passing occurred while he was doing something that he loved, refereeing one of his children's soccer games.  Richard was only 44 years old and leaves behind 5 children- Alexandra, Rachel, Richard Jr., Charles and Samantha, and his loving wife Penny.

Richard Habib was the Regional Director of TLC Laser Eye Centers for Southeast and MidAtlantic regions, and he was the glue of the TLC family.  Richard meant so much to so many people, that trying to describe his emotional reach is impossible.  He was the 'go to guy' for most of us in the company, and we all relied on his help in many facets of the business..  He was the best manager you will ever meet, and had a unique ability to defuse situations calmly, effectively and wisely.  My colleagues and I at TLC loved working with him because he truly cared and listened.   Richard was more than a co-worker, he was a friend.  His warmth, smile and laugh were a constant presence in our lives that will be impossible to replace.  We are all so saddened by his premature death.

Richard was with TLC for approximately 20 years.  I first came to know him in 2005 when my laser business merged with TLC. He helped facilitate a smooth transition and was an anchor for me in a sea of chaos.   I shared a small office with Richard for several years and we came to know each other rather well.  I really enjoyed that time- it was fun and I was able to learn some incredible lessons from him about business management.  Richard didn't go to Wharton or Harvard Business School-- he was just an amazingly adept individual who had innate abilities in the management of people.  He was a master of relationships and compromise.  Richard was incredibly wise, had a big personality and knew how to use his warmth and charm to help others. He was always calm in demeanor and gentle with advice and direction.
