FSA Planning: Get Your Patients in Now!

Over the past few weeks, we've been seeing quite a few Flexible Spending Account (FSA) patients coming into the office. Either they're trying to use up the balance of their 2012 FSA money, or they are trying to get ready for their 2013 options.

Either way, the best time to get in for a LVC consultation is RIGHT NOW! Planning ahead of the year's end or open enrollment time will allow patients to properly plan for their consultation. Then, they can plan around vacations, holiday, and work schedules to allow the proper amount of time out of contacts, do their pre-op evaluations with you, and then return for surgery ... all at a nice, even pace.

A lot of patients like to wait until the last minute for their consultations, but that is not ideal. In that situation, patients often feel rushed to meet some kind of deadline - either to use their money or enroll in a future plan - and that is not how one should be approaching LVC. Having LASIK or PRK should be a relaxed experience! The best way to ensure this is to have a consultation now before the FSA mad rush begins! - jw
