Senator Chap Petersen and Delegate David Bulova represent me in the Virginia General Assembly. Both are Fairfax County natives that have worked diligently to represent Northern Virginia in Richmond. Dr. Roxann Robinson is the only optometrist in the General Assembly. I get to work with our representatives as part of my work with the Virginia Optometric Association. - jw

10/30/16 ... Just found this pic from Congressional Advocacy Conference 2016. I was wondering where that was! Each year, optometrists from all over the country meet up in DC for a 3-day long conference discussion advocacy for our profession. The last day, we all make visits to our respective legislators. Here, our VA group visited Virginia US Representative Morgan Griffith. He was in a Committee Meeting at the time of our visit to his office, so he asked one of his staffers to bring us to him! WOW! During a break in the meeting, he came out to personally talk with us about optometry's needs. That was so wonderful that he took time out to meet with us and more specifically, with the two members of his group from his district. - jw
