TLC Tysons CE Series: Dr. Solomon Discusses Cataract Surgery Co-Management

On Monday, May 18, 2015, Dr. Jonathan Solomon discussed cataract surgery technology and co-management. In our area particularly, it is very common to have patients participate in co-managed care. Given traffic congestion, patients often are fine with seeking out surgeons from across the region, but they are more comfortable with post-operative care through their local optometrists, many of whom have long-standing relationships.

I am really proud to see Dr. Solomon's public speaking skills blossom over the years, and I think that I have mentioned this before, if memory serves me well. Public speaking can be a tough endeavor, especially when you are not familiar with the audience. As Dr. Solomon has come to know Affiliate doctors in the area, I have watched his presentation skills develop. Now, he is able to express his sense of humor and love for his profession through his lectures. It's really such a nice process to observe.

We've been experimenting with different food options at our CE dinners. I was getting tired of the same old sandwiches and potato salad. Were you? This time we had Guapos cater, and ... YUM! Great job on the food selection, Natasha!

Note: This summer, the American Academy of Ophthalmology revised its opinion on co-management to now reflect the fact that patient's do have options in who provides their care. This was a considerable change from previous opinions. The last time this topic had been addressed was in the early 2000's.

Last week, my husband went to a meeting in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. I sure do miss Colorado. When we lived there, I don't think I fully appreciated the beauty of the state. He texted me this photo:

That's pretty cool to see your surgeon's photo in a magazine! - jw
