VA TLC Sponsors VOA's Voyages in Vision Conference

Wow! It's been a while since I was able to square away time to post what we've been up to at Tysons Corner. Or, it could be that I have just now gotten over the downer of having to come home after an awesome time in St. Thomas.

The Virginia Optometric Association recently hosted its Voyages in Vision conference in St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands. This meeting is held every few years, but from the feedback that I received from attendees, they want it to be every year!

Many thanks to Dr. Rob Allen who volunteered to chair this meeting. It can be very hard to organize a meeting that will take place at a location so far away from where we are. I don't think he could have put on a greater meeting! Very well organized with great feedback from those that attended. He also put together a very nice agenda of speakers and sponsors.

As with all VOA meetings, your VA TLC Centers - Tysons Corner, Charlottesville, and Richmond - were able to sponsor this meeting. It's a great example of how TLC has consistently supported our profession.

Dr. Andrew Holzman and Dr. Jonathan Solomon were able to present two hours of lectures each at the meeting. Dr. Holzman spoke about post-LASIK ectasia and key refractive surgery co-mx clinical pearls. Dr. Solomon spoke about intraoperative cataract surgery imaging and laser-assisted cataract surgery, both of which help improve the efficiency and accuracy of the procedure. Many thanks to these two speakers that traveled all the way to St. Thomas to speak to us. I think it only took minimal arm twisting to get them out to there. : ) - jw
